![]() ![]() No matter how badly you screw over the other hunters around you, you manage to scout 60 yards from my blind wearing desert camo only an hour into the hunt. With 3 robo ducks spinning while you sit in your uncovered boat out in the open, you make it clear that your mission is to only harvest the dumbest of the dumb teal. ![]() While most hunters get to their spots hours before dawn, you dare to launch your jon boat three minutes to legal shooting time. Setup For Early Teal Exactly At LST Huuuuuuunter Setup For Early Teal Exactly At LST Hunter. No matter how beautiful the birds, they can’t hide the ugly, bitter old man that lurks in the trees. If the West End was the Black Forest in Hansel & Gretel, Barney Schubert is the cannibalistic witch that eats children after luring them into his garden with pretty birds. Bring your kids to Negril, just not this sad hellhole. Note that Barney is NOT Jamaican Jamaicans do not treat kids like this, not in Negril. And everyone who brings children into his garden complained about similar mistreatment. In recounting this experience afterwards, locals seemed to indicate Barney is a sketchy expat. The way he targeted me when I was alone also makes me think he hates women, maybe hates Americans. From other reviews, it sounds like he also hates dogs. ![]() He’s going to get himself in trouble-worse than a bad review-some day with someone more willing to engage in his severe aggression. He should have refunded our money after kicking us out for no sane reason, but of course did not offer any concession for his mistake. ![]() Barney’s emails and website imply only that you may not get birds if you bring a child-he needs to change this to say strictly no children allowed. We kept our calm and quickly left voluntarily, kicked out more like it, as all of Barney’s guests saw his colors. My kid was still behaved, not a single tear or a shout this whole time. Barney went nuts from there, my husband rejoined me and the situation unraveled. He clearly didn’t like being called out on his hypocrisy, i.e., that he did make the reservation and allow us in/take our money with a child after all. Quickly realizing this was not a normal person, I calmly reminded Barney that he didn’t say we could not bring a child and that in fact she was not crying or being loud. At this point everyone in the small garden was watching Barney’s unhinged ambush. He descended on me out of nowhere, snatched the feeding bottle out of my hand and shamed me for bringing a child into his garden (minutes after taking our money. My husband and I split up, and I ventured off solo. The dogs barking were 20 times louder than my kid, and the birds were still flying around. My kid continued to behave as we strolled, merely talking in the same tone and volume as every other person there. Ok, i see now Barney’s an ass but I can manage. Three minutes later he shamed me for standing next to tree where a woman had just fed a bird-illogical reaction since clearly I was on the worn path and the prior woman was fine doing it but I complied and moved anyway. Almost immediately after taking our money, Barney sets in on us, following us down the path repeating over and over and over that our kid “walks at our own risk”. Probably two other couples were there and another single mom with her young daughter too (Barney must have blown a sprocket having two little girls in his realm). We were greeted by Barney’s nice staff, the best part of his hellish garden. So I ‘decided best’ to make the reservation knowing my kid would very likely behave and if she didn’t that we would leave but ultimately we would enjoy it, birds or no birds. While Barney mentioned the garden was not suitable for children since seeing birds requires patience and silence, he said we may “decide best if you visit”. Here’s the true story: I emailed with Barney prior to making a reservation, telling him twice about our 2 year old. There's something wrong with someone who so viscerally hates the mere presence of children that he goes nuts. Barney Schubert hates children, in fact he’s notorious for it (as I later learned). ![]()
